Circle of Care Cancer Support and Psycho-Oncology Services - September Schedule of Events

Cancer patients and survivors living in Guam and members of their support team, including family and friends, are invited to participate in the Circle of Care program, which provides cancer support and psycho-oncology services to the Guam community. The Circle of Care program was established by Pay-Less Markets Community Foundation through a grant from the Guam Cancer Trust Fund. All services provided are free of charge.

Circle of Care Services Include:

*Online Cancer Support Group - Tuesdays 6:00-8:00 pm
Circle of Care’s weekly online cancer support group is held every Tuesday evening at 6:00-8:00 pm on Zoom. The group is facilitated by licensed clinical psychologist Dr. Iain Twaddle and extension educator Marie Benito. At the beginning of each group session, guest speakers will give presentations on cancer support services available in Guam. September Guest Speakers:

  • September 03 - Guest Speaker: Dr. Mary Elizabeth Hernandez, Pediatric Pulmonologist (GMH / Guam Sleep Center)
  • September 10 - Guest Speaker: Rachel Ramirez, Program Coordinator (DPHSS - Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program)
  • September 17 - Guest Speaker: Maricar Reyes, Supervisor (Guam Visiting Nurses); Sohrab Temperante, Administrator (Pacific Sleep Care and Wellness)
  • September 24 - Guest Speaker: Dr. Kitty Victoria, Oncologist-Hematologist (GRMC)

*In-Person Cancer Support Group & Wellness Services - Saturdays 9:30 am -1:00 pm
Circle of Care’s in-person cancer support group is held every 1st and 3rd Saturday at 9:30 am-1:00 pm at the PayLess Corporate Office, HR Training Room (Building B), 116 W Chalan Santo Papa, Hagatna (across from Calvo’s Insurance). The group is facilitated by licensed clinical psychologist Dr. Iain Twaddle and extension educator Marie Benito, as well as cancer care specialists from the community. A nutritional light lunch and snacks will be provided.

September 07 (9:30 am-1:00 pm):

  • Restorative Yoga - Linda Frank, Yoga for Cancer Certified Instructor
  • Nutrition Education - Rosae Shandor, Registered Dietician-Nutritionist

September 21 (9:30 am-1:00 pm):

  • Support Group - Dr. Twaddle and Marie Benito
  • Restorative Yoga - Linda Frank, Yoga for Cancer Certified Instructor
  • Art for Healing - Dr. Arlene Diaz, PhD in Education and Art Therapy

*Individual and Family Psycho-Oncology Counseling
Cancer patients and members of their support team can meet with licensed clinical psychologist Dr. Iain Twaddle for individualized support as they go through their cancer journey.
